August 23, 2015: August Fire Update

As of midnight, this fire is about 40 acres and burning on the South side of highway 26. It is burning in steep ground in 12 year old and 60 year old timber.

 

Overnight 2 South Fork Inmate Crews and a 20 person contract crew, combined with our ODF crews, contractors, and rural fire department crews are working to construct a fireline around the fire. Today the fire was nearly lined, but jumped the line and burned back up to the highway.

 

Tomorrow fresh crews will take up where the night crews left off.

 

Tomorrow, we will have:

 

• A Weyerhaeuser Company firefighting helicopter and 2 water tenders
• A Stimson 1000 gallon fire engine and 3 firefighters
• 3 firefighting crews
• Banks Fire resources
• At this time no structures threatened and no evacuations anticipated.
