As things begin to ramp up statewide, we would like to remember to thank our employees currently deployed out of state.

For the last several years, the Washington Department of Natural Resources (WADNR) has coordinated with their interagency and fire service partners to put on three statewide fire schools. They encourage 1st through 5th year fire employees to attend classes to ensure training needs are met. With this huge undertaking also comes the need to staff initial attack on the home front, which requires additional out of state resources due to local forces being engaged in this training. Due to the massive number of students they put through these schools, WADNR routinely asks for our assistance in the form of move-up engines, and initial attack Incident Commanders. Currently, ODF has 8 resources aiding in this coverage, including resources from the Forest Gove Unit.
