Douglas fir tree struck by lightning in Columbia County. The tree was felled and the fire extinguished.

Lightning crossed the NWOFPA District this morning, starting four fires in Columbia County.  The largest so far is 40 x 60. All 4 fires are currently staffed with a combination of ODF, rural fire departments (Scappoose and Clatskanie fire) and/or Industry Crews (Evenson Logging).   Spread on all  fires at this time has been stopped and all are in mop up.  Relative humidity is high, but there was little or no rainfall with the lightning.

Please be aware that ODF is changing the Public Use Restriction level back to Moderate in NW2 and NW3 as of noon today.  The IFPL will remain at 2.  Thank you!
